Who hasn't heard about The Elf of the Shelf?
       When my son was 2 years old and going through some TERRIBLE TWOS telling him that Santa was watching just wasn't enough anymore.  One of my co-workers shared with me about The Elf on the Shelf and how much her kids enjoyed it.  I immediately checked all over the web for the elf!  When it arrived in the mail I took it out and shared it with my son.  Our family has now enjoyed this tradition for 3 years now.  
       In case you haven't heard how this magical elf works, let me share.  The Elf on the Shelf comes with a book that gives a cute rhyming narrative on how to treat your elf and what he/she is there to do.  So basically, the elf comes to you from Santa every morning and finds a spot to hide.  When your child wakes up he/she has to find the elf's new hiding spot.  There are special rules with the elf  like, the child cannot touch the elf or it will lose its Christmas magic!  Your child must give the elf a name.  There are cute names listed in the book but you can always think outside the box!  (Check out this link for the movie on YouTube or get the book from Amazon here)
