It’s been 2 years, 4
months, and 6 days since my little sister, Miranda, passed away. The last year of her life was one of her
happiest. March 2013 our parents got
remarried. That was something we never
thought would happen. In June she was
able to have her make a wish granted.
Her wish was to take her nephew (my son) to Disney World.
In July she turned 21. This was an incredible feat because the doctors gave her a life expectancy of 1 year. In August she was hospitalized due to breathing difficulties. She was recovering as the doctors had hoped when suddenly on August 27, 2013 she had an unexpected allergic reaction to the antibiotic they were administering. The reaction was so severe that there wasn’t a lot they could do to save her.
That
was absolutely the worst day of my life.
I was leaving the chiropractor when my mom called to say that Miranda
was having complications. The hospital
was approximately 30-45 minutes away, but my husband and I rushed to the
hospital as quickly as we could. When I
got to the room the curtain was closed, so I didn’t want to disturb them the
doctors and nurses I saw inside. Once
several nurses cleared out I walked in and my mom said she was gone. I remember hearing my mom talking, but I
wasn’t listening. Between my crying and
the thoughts that stormed my brain, how could I hear her? My sister was gone.
